چکیده

This study was performed to establish anti-diabetic and anti-oxidant properties, carry out phytochemical analysis of selected local plants which are traditionally used as medicinal plants. Local involved in this were Lawsonia inermis, Punica granatum, Dryobalanops aromatica, Ziziphus mauritiana, Ocimum basilicum. Solvent extraction using maceration method with solvents increasing polarity. Alpha-glucosidase inhibition assay on all extracts ascertain their potentials. The screened for antioxidant activity assays (FRAP, DPPH, TAOC, ABTS, BCB) quantitative analyses (TPC TFC). Chemical profiling LCMS GCMS high biological activities. Methanol D. aromatica bark leaves showed the most potent alpha-glucosidase IC50 values 0.63 ± 0.03 µg/mL 0.98 0.02 µg/mL, respectively. Both exhibited similar five possessed phenolic contents 266.79 261.69 GAE, results obtained suggested that amongst studied, (via alpha-glucosidase). is first report highlights potential aromatica.

Antioxidant and α-glucosidase inhibitory activities of the leaf and stem of selected traditional medicinal plants

The study was aimed to determine the antioxidant and α-glucosidase inhibition activities of the stem and leaf of five different traditional medicinal plants. The studied plants exhibited varied antioxidant and α-glucosidase inhibition activities. The antioxidant activities of the plants were determined through their free radical scavenging capabilities using DPPH assay. The most potent antioxid...

α-Glucosidase Inhibitory Activity of Selected Malaysian Plants

Diabetes is a common metabolic disease indicated by unusually high plasma glucose level that can lead to major complications such as diabetic neuropathy, retinopathy, and cardiovascular diseases. One of the effective therapeutic managements of the disease is to reduce postprandial hyperglycemia through inhibition of α-glucosidase, a carbohydrate-hydrolyzing enzyme to retard overall glucose abso...
